We need two volunteers to take pictures of the students, teachers, and parents engaged in school activities and special events, for use in newsletters, school web site, yearbook and Facebook.
Someone who can come in periodically and neaten/refold clothing, put newly donated clothes away, and help make that area of the school welcoming.
Tally Parents: 1-2 parents who can come in on Thursday mornings, gather the Jog-a-Thon pledge cards from each classroom, and enter them on a tally sheet. Can also identify weekly prize winners based on specific challenges. Training provided. (Thursdays, Sept. 15 - Oct. 13)
Bulletin Board Parent: 1 parent who can take tally information and put together bulletin board and newsletter updates for the school. Make a poster-sized bar graph, write a summary paragraph from last week with an enticement for next week’s challenge for the newsletter and SchoolSpeak. Will work closely with the principal and/or tally parent who will provide all the info. Training provided. Worth 5 PIE hours at least
Prize Parents: 1-2 parents who can distribute (and possibly gather) prizes on Fridays to students who have met that week’s challenge. (Fridays, Sept. 16 - Oct. 14) Worth 5 PIE hours at least
Lap Counters: One parent per classroom who can mark off laps as students from your class go by. (October 14, 8:30 - 12:00) Worth 4-5 PIE hours
Snack Organizers: Set up tables at Capitol Park, organize snacks (brought in by parents) by classroom, coordinate cleanup after event. (October 14th 8:30 - 12:00) Worth 4 PIE hours
Set-Up: 1-2 parents who can transform the library into the Book Fair. Pull out bookshelves, set up tables with tablecloths and stacks of books by category. (Day before event, mid-November and mid-April)
Cashier Organizer: 1 parent who can gather and organize volunteer parents for shifts for the week for each event.
Cashiers: Run the cash register, watch the merchandise. Small shifts include mornings 7:45 - 8 am, afternoons 3 - 3:30 pm.
Dance volunteers: Small jobs include run the snack bar, be the DJ, man the glow-sticks, and set up the chairs for the next day’s event at the end of the night. Friday, February 17th.
Procurement committee: Members of this committee assist in obtaining auction items for both the silent and oral auction. Committee members will solicit local and remote merchants requesting donations via email, phone and website forms, as well as in person visits to local businesses.
Advertising committee: This committee will be responsible for going out into the community and soliciting ads for our auction brochure.
Decorations committee: This committee assists with plan layout and decorations of tables and facility.
Setup/Cleanup: Several volunteers needed to either help decorate and set up silent auction tables, or clean up and put tables and chairs away at the conclusion of the event.
Decorations: 2-4 parents who can come in 90 mins before the tea to set up tablecloths, start the tea, put out place settings, and/or who can help clean up at the end. Job share with the principal. (the Friday before Mother’s Day, May 12)
Organizer: 1-2 dads who can organize a dodgeball and a kickball game, including how to keep the younger students safe.
Kitchen Crew: 4-6 parents who can put together a hot dog lunch for about 350 people rotating through. Includes shopping. (the Friday before the last week of school, June 9th)
Decorations: 2-3 parents who can organize and/or create decorations for the 8th grade graduation reception. Includes cake, morning snacks (muffins, fruit, juice, etc.), setting up buffet, and graduation decorations (balloons, banner, pictures, etc.) Last Wednesday of the school year in June, June 14th.
Event Coordinator: 1 parent who can organize all of the events for Field Day.
Game Parent: 12-15 parents who can (set up &) run a game for two hours during field day (the last day of school in June, June 16th 8:00 - 12:00)
Partners-In-Education hours are earned when parents volunteer their time, talent or treasure to help out the school. Two-parent families are asked to volunteer 20 hours per year, and one-parent families are asked 15 hours. There are lots of great opportunities to help out and be a part of a great community!
